Dubai: Whitney Houston "partied heavily" on Friday night at the Beverly HIlton hotel where she was staying, drinking and chatting loudly with friends in the bar, according to TMZ.com, who site a source.

Her mother Cissy Houston and friend and singer Dionne Warwick have, however, maintained the singer sounded fine just hours before her death.

The website also claimed Houston's ex-husband, Bobby Brown, who is alleged to have introduced her to a life of drugs, is distraught over her death and is going “in and out of crying fits.”

Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party, which Houston, was supposed to open, is going on as scheduled this evening, though Davis himself will not be in attendance.

Police are currently seeking a search warrant to investigate the hotel room where Houston was found dead. TMZ.com sources have told the celebrity website that a member of Houston’s entourage found her in her 4th-floor room at the Beverly Hilton hotel and called hotel security who then dialed 911.

When paramedics arrived Houston was found unresponsive. Paramedics then reportedly performed CPR but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3:55pm on Saturday.

There have been no obvious signs of foul play, but detectives have begun a full investigation, the website added.
