Dubai: The making of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now has gone down in film history as one of the most chaotic and intense of all time. So legendary, in fact, that one of the stars, Martin Sheen, then 36, had a heart attack on set. Now it’s your chance to hear about that drama that took place off-screen in-person from the actor himself. The Dubai International Film Festival lifetime achievement winner will speak at the In Conversation event on December 8 at 4pm, answering questions from the audience about the Vietnam-war film, as well as on his other roles.

Fans can hear the Emmy and Golden Globe winner discuss a body of work that has spanned over five decades and over 80 films.

The event takes place at Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, as part of the 10th anniversary of the festival. Other In Conversation events include a session with Gunday stars Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh on December 13.

Sheen’s breakthrough role came in Terrence Malick’s Badlands, in 1973, while recently he’s made an impact on the small screen, as President Jed Bartlet in The West Wing and appearing in his son Charlie Sheen’s sitcom Anger Management.

Sheen will receive the Diff Lifetime Achievement award during the opening ceremony of the festival, which runs December 6-14.

Tickets for the In Conversation event are Dh30 (Dh10 for students) at the Diff online box office (diff.ae) and physical box offices at Madinat Theatre, VOX Cinemas Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Internet City, Bldg 3. Call 04-363-FILM.
