Hollywood actress Uma Thurman wants to be in a Bollywood film, and soon.

"That will be the best," said the 41-year-old actress who is named after a Hindu goddess Uma, which also means light, by her Indophile parents.

In Dubai to launch a new fragrance, Ange ou Etrange le Secret Elixir, by French fashion house Givenchy, for which she is the ambassador, Thurman spoke about her deep connection to India, where she grew up.

"I didn't realise how close we were to India [from the UAE]. Had I known earlier, I would have gone by," she told tabloid! "I go there often, my last visit was about two years ago.

"India is a part of me. I have friends there and I feel very connected to it… the smell, the sights, the people. It's familiar."

Most well known for her roles in Pulp Fiction and the two Kill Bill films, Thurman has also fronted a number of luxury brands including Louis Vuitton and Tag Heuer. The Givenchy event at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on The Palm, Jumeirah on Monday night was an invite-only event.

"I am good friends with Mira Nair," she added, referring to the award-winning Indian director with whom she worked with in 2002's Hysterical Blindness.

"In fact, I heard she's filming a movie in India that's coming up soon and I'm very upset I'm not in it," she said, laughing. "I'm going to have a word with her about that."
