Baby girl
Melai Contiveros and Jason Francisco are now proud parents of a baby girl. Francisco proudly showed a photo of his first born via his Instagram account (checkjason) last week. He did not reveal further details, including the name of the child, something the fans of the couple have been eagerly awaiting. Friends of the new parents say they are thinking of naming the baby, Melai, Jr., but Francisco naturally refused. Those who have seen pictures of the baby say she has her mother’s eyes. Contiveros says she plans to resume work soon, but was firm in saying she will also take care of her newborn.
No rivalry
Jennyln Mercado says there is no competition between her and Angel Locsin. Mercado, who stars in the primetime series Rhodora X on GMA, has been getting rave reviews for her sterling performance. Her show airs at the same time as Locsion’s soap, The Legal Wife, which airs on ABS CBN. Mercado’s programme has had the upper hand in the ratings so far, but she dismisses any suggestion of rivalry, saying Locsin is a good friend. She is just happy her performance is being noticed and that the show is doing well. She vows to work harder, along with the creative team, to give the audience a good series.
Top finalists
Filipina models Katarina Rodriguez and Jodilly Pendre are among the top three finalists in the modelling-reality competition billed Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2. They are up against Sheena Liam, who is from Malaysia. Both Filipinas have consistently been among the favourites throughout the competition, with Pendre garnering two coveted ‘Best Photo’ awards during the competition. In the previous cycle, the Philippines’ Stephanie Retuya lost the title to eventual winner Jessica Amornkuldilok from Thailand. The winner in Cycle 2 will be revealed in the penultimate episode airing on StarWorld and Fox Asia in the coming weeks.
Just friends
Julia Barretto denies she and Sam Concepcion are dating. The young actress says he considers the actor, who is her co-star in the series Mira Bella, as her older brother. The rumour linking the two surfaced last week, when Concepcion was allegedly berated by actress Anne Curtis, the older sister of Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who is rumoured to be the actor’s current girlfriend. Barretto says she is too young to have a boyfriend, and vows never to be the third wheel in a relationship. Besides, the pretty teen star says her career is her only love at the moment.
