Charice Pempengco made her debut on popular US series Glee last week, and the international singing star became an even bigger sensation.
Her rendition of Lady Gaga's Telephone — in a campus restroom scene with Glee mainstay Lea Michelle (who plays Rachel) — has clinched the second spot on the US iTunes hit list, while her version of Beyonce Knowle's Listen currently occupies the eighth spot.
Pempengco was even one of the hottest trending topics on Twitter during her debut on the 2010 Golden Globe winner, along with another Pinay, Fil-Am Jasmine Villegas who was caught lip-locking with teen star Justin Bieber.
On another bright note, Pempengco has been named on Billboard's List of 21 under 21: Music's Hottest Minors, behind Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Separation sees Kris starstruck
Kris Bernal's ‘separation' from Aljur Abrenica is doing the teen actress some good. After their break-up early this year, Bernal used her time off to enrol in acting workshops and it seems her hard work has paid off. She will soon be seen in TV series Koreana, where she will be paired opposite Steven Silva, the ultimate champion of this year's Starstruck, the biggest celebrity-reality series in Philippines.
Coco's universal message
Award-winning actor Coco Martin was delighted to know his film, Noy, has been selected as the Philippines' choice at the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Martin is the co-producer and co-director of the movie which talks about the dreams, hopes and heroism of a journalist covering the recently-concluded Philippines' presidential elections.
He hopes that the movie will be appreciated, saying "it is very Pinoy, but the message is universal and so hopefully will have a wider appeal."
Ramos' surprising revelation
Rhian Ramos surprised the public when she recently admitted she had a relationship with former co-star JC de Vera. The two never admitted that they were going out, and only insinuated they became close friends while doing Lalola, a TV series on GMA.
De Vera has since transferred to TV5 while Ramos has paired up with other leading men, most recently with Aljur Abrenica in Ilumina. The two had a very public spat in which de Vera said he would rather forget his association with Ramos, who in turn retorted that she would remember the happy memories she had while working with him.
The public assumed they had broken up. Ramos finally revealed last week that she had cried endlessly for seven months after her break-up with de Vera. Their relationship lasted six months.
