Staffer bears weight of Posh's designer handbag

Her penchant for pricey designer handbags is well known.

But Victoria Beckham's latest method of carrying her belongings might be her most extravagant yet.

During a visit to New York, the 36-year-old hired a flunky to lug her bags around for her. The assistant bore the weight of Beckham's £24,740 (Dh138,358) Hermès Birkin bag while she shopped for clothes last week.

And in a trip to supermarket chain Whole Foods, the suited helper was on hand to slavishly hold her shopping basket.

A spokesman for Beckham said the man worked for her in New York, but insisted he had picked up her handbag as a result of a "simple misunderstanding".
