Natty Kumar’s debut film Meipporul, a thriller, was a laudable effort. The director returns with another romantic thriller, Panithuli, starring Ganesh Venkataraman. Playing the female leads are Shobhana and Kalpana Pandit.

Director Natty Kumar says he once hated movies
The story revolves around Shiva, an MBA graduate and his love, Meera, until Shiva stumbles upon something that traps him into making a deal with the devil.
Moving to the US, Shiva begins a new life and finds a new love, but his past catches up and he is left questioning his own sanity.
“We have shot some stylish action sequences keeping in mind Ganesh’s character as the no-nonsense cop in Unnai Pol Oruvan, says Kumar.
“The twist in the screenplay would be new in the film,” he adds.
Kumar has high hopes for Venkataraman. “He will be the next Kamal Haasan in the Tamil industry. It was great working with an actor who knows what he is doing.”
On the two heroines, he says, “Kalpana is a talented actress who has already done several films. Shobana is a wonderful dancer and a performer in front of camera.”
“The story stresses that true love will never fail even if there are many hurdles,” says the director.
“Until nine years of age I hated watching movies, because most of them made me cry,” he recalls.
But in his teens, he fell in love with the medium and wanted to work in film. He owes it to his wife, Nithya, who encouraged him to study film technology in California after their marriage.
