British Asian VJ and actress Sophia Haque died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday night at her London home, her agent has confirmed to tabloid!.

“It’s true. We just heard the news. She died peacefully in her sleep last night. She had cancer,” said Oliver Thomson from Cole Kitchenn Personal Management Ltd. He added that her family was in London and that funeral arrangements will be made towards the end of the week.

Haque, 41, was born to an English mother and a Bangladeshi father, rose to prominence as the chirpy, free-spirited VJ for Indian music channel V in the 1990s and later dabbled in Bollywood by appearing in films such as Snip and Khoobsurat. Director Ken Ghosh also expressed his condolences on twitter with “Just heard sad news of the passing away of the live wire ex VJ of channel V, Sophia Haque.”
