Knee woes

Actor TJ Trinidad is glad that the series he is in — The Borrowed Wife — will be extended, owing to rave reviews and great ratings. But that also means he will have to wait another two weeks — the expected extension after the show’s 18-week run — before he can do something about his knees. His left knee has a tear, while his right has a cartilage. The actor will undergo a microfracture procedure after which he will have to be sidelined for two weeks to allow him to recuperate. He didn’t say how he got the injury, and lamented that it had to be the cause of him backing out from a film where he was supposed to play the lead role.

Show walkout

Highly respected actress Cherie Gil walked out on the set of Ikaw Lamang last week, after being made to wait on the set for script changes. The show is being produced by Dreamscape for ABS CBN. One of the network’s executives ranted on Twitter that Gil’s action was uncalled for, saying the actress was supposed to shoot until 2am but asked if she could leave at 10pm to attend a party. The production refused, prompting the actress to walk out. Gil, though, responded on Twitter saying the executive completely twisted the story, but did not give any details. Gil has been in the industry for over 40 years and is known to be the consummate professional. The show has had lacklustre ratings of late and is not meeting expectations, considering it stars Coco Martin and Kim Chiu. This could be a publicity stunt, but knowing Gil, she will not allow herself to be used for a gimmick.

Prolific year

Superstar Nora Aunor is now shooting her second movie of the year, Dementia, after she wrapped up her scenes for her indie project, Padre de Pamilya, with Coco Martin. The movie is a horror-suspense thriller directed by former TV5 executive Perci Intalan and produced by Octobertrain and Studio 5, the film arm of TV5. Aunor and the rest of the cast are now in Batanes, the Philippines’ northernmost province, and will stay there for a month. This is one of Aunor’s busiest years since coming out from semi-retirement in the US a few years ago.
