Prize delay

Dramatic actress Alice Dixson is miffed that the prize money she won from a TV game show has so far not been turned over to the charity she played for. Without naming any show, the beauty queen turned actress said she appeared on the programme more than two months ago and up to now the beneficiary has not received the prize she won during the games. Dixson is upset that the turnover has taken some time; she was hoping that the charity would have received her prize money, a little over a hundred thousand pesos (approximately Dh10,000) in time of Christmas.

Unforgettable year

As far as Anne Curtis is concerned, 2013 is a year she would rather forget. After getting involved in a slapping incident while she was under the influence of alcohol at a Manila club, Curtis has apologised to the public and the people involved and is ready to move on to bigger and brighter things in 2014, including a highly anticipated movie with Cristine Reyes, The Gifted, and a new concert. When asked whether she will play the coveted mermaid role in the TV remake of Dyesebel, Curtis says she is open to doing the role.

Big break

Newbie actress Sophie Albert, winner of TV5’s Artista Academy celebrity search, has got her biggest TV break with the local adaptation of the hit US series Pretty Little Liars, originally produced by Warner Bros. It is based on a series of novels written by Sarah Shepard. Albert will star with her fellow TV5 contract artists Chanel Morales and Stephanie Rowe. Albert could not contain her excitement on her latest TV project and vowed to do her best to shine in the series. TV5’s newest bets for stardom will be directed by well known TV director Mac Alejandre.

Family drama

The Barretto sisters’ feud took another nasty turn as Gretchen appeared as a witness in court against her sister, in a custody case filed by Claudine’s ex-husband Raymart Santiago. The elder Barretto added insult to injury when she sided with Santiago and revealed her younger sister’s alleged drug abuse and mental instability. Before the court hearing, Gretchen dropped another bombshell when she said she received death threats from her father before deciding to go to court against her younger sister. In an interview after the hearing, Gretchen said she is only doing this because she actually loves her sister and wants only the best for her niece and nephew. Claudine and Raymart have two children, Sabina, nine and Santino, seven.
