For the first time, top actresses Ai Ai delas Alas and Marian Rivera will be appearing in a movie together, the action-comedy flick Kung Fu Divas, which they are also co-producing. The film will mostly be shot in chroma screen, and will take about a month. But Rivera says the post-production work will take about six months. The actress says she is excited about the movie, because it is her first time to produce a movie, and is also the first time she will be working with delas Alas. She considers it an honour to be working with the Comedy Queen. According to Rivera, she really wanted to become a comedienne when she first entered showbusiness, but has been given mostly dramatic TV projects and movies.

Showbiz Tsismis: News in brief

Maybe next year
It is beauty pageant season once again in the Philippines, yet upcoming actress Arci Munoz, who admitted she wants to join Miss World Philippines, has apparently backed out. The talented star of TV5 says she has a lot of film and TV commitments at the moment, and was unable to prepare for this year’s pageant. Munoz, however, confirms she is still intent on becoming a beauty queen; and vows to make time for it next year. Meanwhile, the actress is busy doing her first film project, The Fighting Chefs, where she is the leading lady of action star Ronnie Ricketts. She’s also one of the new co-hosts of Willie Revillame’s revamped Wowowillie noontime show.
Break from drama
Glaiza de Castro, one of GMA’s prized artists, is glad she will soon be doing light comedy via a new show with comedian Vic Sotto — Vampire ang Daddy Ko (My Daddy is a Vampire). De Castro is known for her drama roles, and is currently the toast of critics for her performance in the ongoing series Temptation of Wife, where she plays a villainess role opposite Marian Rivera. With her new project, however, De Castro says she will have a much needed break from all the emotionally draining scenes of her drama series. The actress also reveals she accepted the comedy show as it will be the first time she will be acting opposite Sotto.
Back in the grind
Sam Milby has quietly slipped back to the limelight after taking his chances in Hollywood. Though he failed in his quest to appear in a show or a movie, Milby says he will give his Hollywood dream another try next year. The actor, who is part of ABS CBN’s drama series Kahit Konting Pagtingin (Even Just A Little Attention), is thankful he is still welcome in local showbusiness. Aside from the TV series, he is set to do a film with ex-girlfriend, actress Anne Curtis.
