Friends again

Guess who kiss and made up at the tribute show for the late Comedy King Dolphy? Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista, former gal pals-turned-worst enemies. They were both at the holding area waiting for their assignments; it wasn’t long before Evangelista made the move and approached Rivera. They kissed on the cheeks and exchanged pleasantries. Though the encounter was brief, it was enough to douse hot water on an icy, acrimonious relationship that has torn the two best friends apart. Could it all be just for show? Heard the two will be working on a project together.

Raring to work

Former celebrity doctor Hayden Kho has signed a talent management contract with three of the most formidable talent managers in the business, Roselle Monteverdeo-Teo, Leo Dominguez and Girlie Rodis. Looks like the ex-doctor has found a new calling — he is hell bent on making it as an actor. Kho was stripped of his licence to practice medicine following the release of his intimate videos with several women, including actress Katrina Halili. Now, he wants to bask in the limelight again, something he used to enjoy when he was beau of doctor-to-the stars Vicki Belo. Kho went even as far as saying in recent interviews that he was willing to do a project with Halili.

New mummy

Speaking of Katrina Halili, the Sexiest Woman in the Philippines title holder has just given birth to her and Kris Lawrence’s baby girl, Katrence, last week. Halili is one excited mum, and she plans to breast-feed her daughter. She said she’d like to be a full time mother before going to back to work next year. Her home studio, GMA 7, has already pledged to support her and give her shows once she’s ready to return to work. When asked whether she’s willing to work with Hayden Kho, she said they still have a case pending in court. Guess that’s a no.

Oscar hopeful

The Philippines will be sending critically acclaimed indie film Bwakaw to the Oscar awards next year to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The news was revealed last week by the Film Academy of the Philippines. The movie premiered in this year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and earned critical praise. The lead actor, Eddie Garcia, won Best Actor. Garcia, an award-winning director as well, has recently recuperated from a still unknown disease. Now, he said he’s fit as a bull to go to Hollywood.
