Shama Hamdan rises

She may not have won Season Two of Arab’s Got Talent, but things are looking up for 17-year-old singer Shama Hamdan. The Emirati singer is reportedly at the top of the wanted list of several record companies; however, it is yet to be confirmed who she will sign on with. Meanwhile, Shama has also just been appointed the Childhood Ambassador for the Foundation of His Highness Prince Jamal Bin Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi where she will take part in helping poor and needy children in Iraq and Palestine.

Dancing with Arabia

Another week, another reality show. The latest celebrity-driven programme set to arrive on our shores is Dancing With the Stars, which will be broadcast on Murr Television (MTV). The BBC, which owns the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing as well as its global versions, has confirmed it has signed a two-year deal with the Lebanese broadcaster, and the first season will air in October 2012. BBC Worldwide senior sales executive Cynthia Kennedy stated in a blog post: “Dancing with the Stars is a format that needs no introduction; in the Arab world, however, there are unique cultural sensitivities that made it difficult to persuade broadcasters to produce a local version with local stars. MTV Lebanon came forward as the company to do this.” So which celebrities do you think will sign on for Season One? Tweet us at @GulfNewsTabloid.
