In what can be considered a perfect UAE National Day gift, Bollywood’s top on-screen pair Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will kick off their song-dance tour entitled Access All Areas on December 1.

The concert will be held on the eve of National Day at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“I have been wanting to do a big, all-encompassing live show for a long time. It will be a highly interactive experience for the viewers,” said Khan at a press conference at Atlantis, The Dubai on Sunday night.

Khan signed on his Chennai Express co-star Padukone two days ago and plans to rope in several big names in the film and music business.

“The names will be revealed soon and the tickets will go on sale on September 19,” said Khan. It’s his first live performance since his hit 2008 Temptations Reloaded show in Dubai.

Organised by Duvent, his latest song-dance spectacle will invite Bollywood fans to enter in contests to win an opportunity to go back stage before the show begins.

“It’s not always fun and games back stage. It can get chaotic but we want to give many a chance to see what goes on before a show begins. Lots of preparation goes into making a show of this size come alive,” said Khan.

He joked that while his co-star from blockbuster Chennai Express is a consummate dancer, he’s not as natural when it comes to dancing.

“I take 30 days to perfect a step while Deepika takes just one. I avoid doing live shows till I am completely prepared. We will make sure that there’s enough entry of stars to keep them entertained,” said Khan. Dubai is the first stop for his Access All Areas world tour.

“Tickets for the big night ranges from Dh99 onwards and we will have several categories, said Omar Saab, Director-Commerical, Duvent.

This announcement was Khan’s second press-meet in the span of three days. Last Thursday, Khan who is currently filming his dance magnum opus Happy New Year in Dubai, was dressed in local Emirati dress to promote his film.

Asked if the press meet blitzkrieg was a marketing gimmick, he said: “When we dressed up in local clothes, it was to thank everyone. We have taken over suites [at Atlantis, The Palm], the roads and Dubai Mall and everybody has been so gracious in letting us shoot. When it’s a thank you that comes from our heart, it’s more than marketing.”
