Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri are taking their relationship to a new level: They are now working together on a real estate project in Dubai called The Royal Estate, According to a spokesperson from developer Pacific Ventures, Khan is the face of their Dubai Investments Park project, while his wife Gauri will be handling the interior design. The Happy New Year star is due in Dubai on August 6 to talk up the project with the local press and well-heeled guests at a private event at Madinat Jumeirah. It’s yet to be confirmed if Gauri will attend the launch party.
“Everyone’s story begins in their home and no home is less than a kingdom for its residents. Three renowned organisations Aristocrat, Pal and Pacific Ventures have partnered to develop and present Royal Estates, which ensures uncompromised comfort, elegance, safety and a state of the art landscaped serenity ... I am delighted to be associated with this project,” said Khan in a statement.
It’s not the first time that the Khans are endorsing real-estate projects in the UAE. In 2008, Khan launched a Dh8 million project in Ras Al Khaimah called Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard amidst much fanfare. But the project was put on hold soon after its spectacular launch. Rumours of it being revived are doing the rounds.
“I come free with it [the apartment]. Every Saturday morning you will find me buck naked,” Khan had joked at that launch.
His wife is a relatively new player in the UAE market. Two months ago, the mother-of-three announced her collaboration with Dubai-based design company The First Ferry and spoke at length about designing homes, yachts, clubs and restaurants.
“My passion is to create and transform a small or a large space ... I want the end product to be beautiful. From tables to chandeliers to hotels, we will be working on it. It’s just the beginning,” said Khan in an interview with tabloid!.
Royal Estates will have over 2,000 apartments, townhouses, office complex and stores. Sales begin on August 7, with studios starting at Dh450,000 (studio) and AED 1.6 million (townhouses).
