Game of Thrones can be a brutal show, but here’s a little tidbit from real life that should at least provide an “awww” moment for fans used to getting their hearts broken.

Actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the series, has adopted the dog that played her dire wolf, Lady, on the series.

Turner, 17, was the subject of a profile in her local newspaper, the Coventry Telegraph on Friday, and while much of the article discussed her involvement in the local theatre scene, her schooling and the process of making of the HBO mega-hit, the following tidbit was tucked in at the end.

“In between her hectic filming schedule, Sophie likes nothing more than to relax at home with her family and pet dog Zunni, who the family adopted from the series,” the paper says.

That’s right, Zunni is the Northern Inuit dog that played Sansa’s dire wolf Lady in the first season of the show.

Fans of the series may recall that Lady was just the first of many cast members to meet their untimely end on screen in the bloody series, but at least she got a happy ending in real life.

As Turner explains, “We knew Lady died and they wanted to re-home her. My mum persuaded them to let us adopt her.”

So there’s a happy ending for a dire wolf. Now, here’s hoping those three dragons get put with a caring family when filming is done.
