Breakthrough newcomers Sam Smith and 5 Seconds of Summer will take the stage at the 2014 American Music Awards.
Dick Clark Productions announced Thursday that Mary J. Blige will join the British pop crooner and Australian boy band at the November 23 event at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. It will air live on ABC.
Smith and 5SOS will compete for new artiste of the year.
Iggy Azalea is the leading nominee at the AMAs with six. John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams each have five nominations. Lorde is up for four honours at the fan-voted show.
Those acts are all nominated for artiste of the year, competing with Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, Eminem, Imagine Dragons and One Direction.
Pitbull will host the show and perform.
