Ronit Roy, who plays a drunkard father in the recently released 2 States, says if it weren’t for producer Karan Johar’s conviction, he may not even have done the movie.

Roy, who features in a key “special appearance” in the film, has been getting praise for his performance as Krrish’s (Arjun Kapoor) father.

“And to think I almost didn’t do 2 States! It’s all Karan Johar’s conviction I went with. Credit goes to him,” Roy tweeted.

“I’m overwhelmed by all the appreciation you have showered on me for my performance and the film 2 States. Thank you sooooo much. Wow! What a tremendous reaction to me in 2 States. Never would have thought. Can’t thank you guys enough,” he added.

The actor, who has had a successful transition from the small to the big screen, also featured in Johar’s Student Of The Year.

2 States, co-produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions and Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner, is directed by Abhishek Varman. Starring Alia Bhatt and Kapoor, the movie tells the love story of a couple belonging to two different states.
