Nicki Minaj is kissing and making up. Well, almost. The singer, who pulled out of last year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam — one of the largest and most influential hip-hop concerts in the US — after a DJ dared to imply her song Starships wasn’t “real hip-hop”, turned up at this year’s event on Sunday, all smiles.

Minaj even had time for a hug for her former foe, DJ Peter Rosenberg, giving him “a very public, very awkward hug before exiting the stage”, reported US music channel Fuse. Minaj joined rapper 2 Chainz for his track “I Love Them Strippers”.

The main stage at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium was awash with young rappers, including Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky and French Montana.

Adorn singer Miguel also had a surprise guest: Minaj’s other foe, her ex-American Idol judging partner Mariah Carey, who joined him for their hit together #Beautiful.

New York City collective Wu-Tang Clan brought its original members together in a treat for fans: they rapped all the songs from their seminal 1993 album, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).”
