Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is impressed with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s speech at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earlier this month and said the legend has set an example for generations to come.

Mohanlal, who expressed his views on his blog in An enlightening swan song at Wankhede, had missed the speech on November 16 due to work commitments.

“I read it the next day and it came to light that just like the beginning, the ending is also very important,” wrote Mohanlal, known for his memorable films such as Vanaprastham, Bharatham, Manichithra Thaazhu, Chithram and Kireetam. “What he spoke is just not limited to one profession, as there is a lot to learn for professionals from diverse sectors.”

Soon after Tendulkar finished playing his last match, the Indian government announced the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour of the country, for the 40-year-old, which he dedicated to all the mothers in India — and especially his own, Rajni Tendulkar.

Mohanlal said those who abandon their parents should learn a lesson from Tendulkar and realise that there’s no success without a mother’s blessing. “His speech should now be taught in schools as this will be a morale booster for the children,” wrote the superstar.
