Fears over Mers have led organisers to postpone a fashion event in Dubai with Filipino stars Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez until June 6.

They were due to be the celebrity models at Freeze, a fashion photography event on May 1 at Dubai’s Domeland at Al Nasr Leisureland.

Photographer Manny Librodo was due to be on hand to share his tips on high-fashion photography.

In a statement, Level Up Events said “we would like to inform you that the management has moved the event date of Freeze: High Fashion & Open Shoot to June 6. This decision has been made in consideration of public safety concerns with the current news about MERS virus in circulation, particularly among our Filipino expatriates.”

“Level Up together with the event sponsors have all agreed in good faith that it is better to delay the event for another month to provide the most comfortable experience for all our guests.”

The World Health Organisation said on April 20 that it had been informed of 250 laboratory-confirmed cases of MERS infection worldwide, of which 93 had been fatal.

Tickets already bought will be valid for the new date; for refunds call the organisers on 04-3865020 or 055-6807288.
