- 'I saw Quentin Tarantino clapping for 10 minutes. I felt embarrassed. I didn't know what to do. It's not every day that you will see Tarantino clapping for your films,' says Mendoza.
Brillante Mendoza's Lola won the Muhr Asia-Africa Best Feature Film award in the recently concluded Dubai International Film Festival. The film bagged $50,000 (Dh183,510) in prize money.
It is Mendoza's third major award this year, following his Best Director triumph at Cannes and Spain for the movie Kinatay.
The Asia-Africa Feature Film jury was headed by Iranian filmmaker Bahman Farmanara, Moroccan filmmaker Nour-Eddine Lakhmari and Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala.
Concepcion Reunion
Ever since Gabby Concepcion came out of hibernation and revived his acting career, fans have been clamouring for a film reunion with ex-wife Sharon Cuneta.
Although Concepcion is willing to do it, Cuneta has been very vocal about her objections to the planned movie. Not all is lost, however, as plans are in the works for Concepcion to do a TV series with his daughter KC (pictured).
KC just finished Lovers In Paris opposite Piolo Pascual. Unfortunately, the show had a rather disappointing run, but this one with her father should be interesting and could pick up a bit in the ratings.
