The first time Marian Rivera went to Cambodia, two years ago, she didn’t expect she would be received so warmly by the locals. She thought only Filipino expat workers would recognise her, but it turns out she was popular in the southeast Asian country because her TV shows were being syndicated there. This time, the Kapuso actress will visit her fans in Vietnam and when she returns she will begin filming her latest soap for GMA, Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Ibabaw ng Lupa (The Most Beautiful Woman on the Face of the Earth) where she will be paired with one of the youngest teen idols today, Alden Richards.
Crisis over
After a self-imposed hiatus, it looks like JM de Guzman is back. There were rumours that the actor went into rehab for drug abuse, but his family has denied this. What was confirmed was the actor went into extreme depression after his split with actress Jessy Mendiola. Before he disappeared, de Guzman was supposed to do the biopic of Pedro Calungsod, the newly canonised Filipino saint. The coveted role has now been given to Rocco Nacino. Pictures of de Guzman with his family surfaced on social media, signalling the actor’s return. Here’s hoping the talented actor can still reclaim his place in showbusiness.
Highly anticipated
ABS CBN’s latest TV series, You’re My Home, has not begun airing, but it is already trending on Twitter in the UAE. Aside from the well-loved team up of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, the series features a powerhouse cast including seasoned performers like Cherie Pie Picache, Iza Calzado, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee, who is back from a much-deserved vacation. Gomez and Zulueta will also be doing a movie for ABS CBN’s film arm, Star Cinema. Gomez says the film will also star John Lloyd Cruz and Jessie Mendiola and will be directed by Chito Rono.
True Love
Pauleen Luna has defended her relationship with comedian Vic Sotto by saying what they have is true love. Luna was reacting to stories of legendary singer Freddie Aguilar’s love affair with a 16-year-old aspiring singer. Since the story broke, Aguilar has been criticised for being a cradle snatcher. Their relationship has been likened to Luna and Sotto’s affair. Luna cried foul, saying she isn’t a minor and that true love is what binds her and Sotto. Next week, Luna will be celebrating her 24th birthday, while Sotto turned 59 last April.
