- Actress Christina Hendricks from "Mad Men" arrives at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles September 18, 2011. The Emmy nominations for 2012 are out and “Mad Men” and “American Horror Story” are leading the pack
“Mad Men” received 17 Emmy nominations Thursday and a chance to set a record as the most-honoured drama series in TV history. Stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are up for lead acting honours.
The miniseries “American Horror Story” received a matching 17 awards, including an acting nod for star Connie Britton.
“Modern Family” scored 14 nominations including best TV comedy to lead other series in that grouping.
Other leading nominees include drama series “Downton Abbey” and two miniseries, “Hatfields & McCoys” and “Hemingway & Gellhorn.”
The Emmy ceremony is scheduled to air on Sept 23.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel had to come to the rescue of the Emmy nominations.
Nick Offerman of “Parks and Recreation” was to join “Scandal” star Kerry Washington in announcing top nominees for this year’s Emmy Awards early Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
But the TV academy says that Offerman “regretfully” wasn’t able to be on hand for the televised event because of weather-related travel delays on the East Coast.
Chat show host Kimmel, who will host the Emmys in September, agreed to step in for Offerman.
