Here’s your chance to get acquainted with French-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb, who will kick off the series of panel discussions and industry sessions held during the Abu Dhabi Film Festival this month.

On October 24, Bouchareb will highlight the milestones in his filmmaking journey that won him three Oscar nominations for films including Dust of Life, Days of Glory and Outside the Law.

Also on the opening day, ADFF will host a talk with director Ali F Mustafa of ADFF’s opening film From A To B and its producers about the various stages of filmmaking. In the session titled ‘From A to B – The A to Z of Making an Emirati Feature Film’, the panelists will discuss what it takes to produce feature films of high calibre.

A panel discussion entitled ‘Let’s Work Together’ on October 25 will see directors and producers from Europe, Canada and the Arab world analysing whether Arab filmmakers should opt for international co-productions and collaborations to gain global success. In the second half of the day, twofour54’s Creative Lab will host Iraqi-Canadian musician and actor Yassin Al Salman at a session entitled ‘An Evening with The Narcicyst’. Al Salman is scheduled to attend the Abu Dhabi Film Festival this year for the premiere of his latest film, Rise.

“An important part of our work is creating connections between local film talent and the wider industry. ADFF Talks Film provides film buffs, students and filmmakers with a rare chance to interact with leading filmmakers and actors on a range of issues spanning the colourful world of cinema. The seminars that are open to the general public offer a refreshing and incisive behind-the-scenes look at the business of films,” said Ali Al Jabri, ADFF festival director, in a statement.

The sessions, which run until October 28, are open to the public. For details on all the sessions and discussions, log on to www.adff.ae. ADFF will be held from October 23 to November 1.
