Shekhar Kapur on Cannes jury

Internationally acclaimed Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will be on the jury panel at the prestigious 63rd Cannes Film Festival, to be held from May 12-23.

Kapur, known for his movies Masoom, Mr India, Bandit Queen and international projects Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, will be on the feature film jury panel along with director Tim Burton, British actress Kate Beckinsale and others.

From big to small

After winning a National Award for his directorial debut, the animated feature film Roadside Romeo, Jugal Hansraj returns to acting — but only for a cameo on the small screen.

The 38-year-old, who began his career as a child actor with Masoom in 1983, will feature in two episodes of Rishta.com.

"Yes, I am in the next two episodes of Rishta.com! Faced the camera after long. Hope you all enjoy," Jugal posted on his Twitter on Friday.

Sony TV's Rishta.com is about a marriage agency run by four friends.

Game on Arjun

The media's prying eyes spotted Arjun Rampal teaching cricket to his co-star Katrina Kaif on the sets of director Prakash Jha's film Raajneeti.

But he brushed it off saying: "I was just giving her some idea about cricket because she didn't have much knowledge about the game. She has started taking [an] interest in cricket. So I thought I should teach her batting," said Rampal.

Meanwhile, Rampal, who did a series of ads for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 with his Housefull co-stars, says the film industry doesn't need cricket to promote films and that they help each other to create awareness.

"We don't need cricket to promote films. Cricket and film are two huge entertaining industries. Cricket is a religion in India and film industry, I believe, is the only form of entertainment. It's a very natural thing. People understand both," said Rampal

"We don't need each other to promote each other, but yes, we help each other to create awareness."
