Put away your glitter and body paint, Ke$ha fans. Despite previous assurances that the pop star would headline RedFestDXB after her stint in rehab for an eating disorder, organisers have now announced that she will be unable to perform on February 13 and Jessie J will take her place.

“I was so looking forward to performing at RedFestDXB but I need to follow my doctor’s advice and get my health back on track,” said Ke$ha in a press release. “Your support during this time has been so amazing and I look forward to coming back stronger than ever on the next tour.”

The Tik Tok singer announced on January 3 that she would be entering rehab for 30 days.

“I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice,” she said, adding that she wants to learn to “love myself again, exactly as I am.”

She has been replaced at the two-day RedFestDXB festival by the UK’s chart-topper Jessie J, but organisers have acknowledged that some fans might no longer want to attend after Ke$ha’s cancellation. Refunds are available through redfestdxb.com/kesha.

“We applaud Ke$ha and her dedication to getting better and we hope to see Ke$ha back on stage soon and hopefully performing with us in Dubai,” said Thomas Ovesen, COO of Done Events.

Jessie J, who is one of the most requested artists on Virgin Radio, according to its COO, will perform on Thursday night with Conor Maynard and Tinie Tempah. There will be a closing set by DJ Marvin Humes of JLS fame.
