Signs point toward singers Katy Perry and John Mayer having broken up again, according to reports out on Wednesday.

The split allegedly happened within the last few days, a source told E! News, which first reported the break-up. No other details from that person, alas, though E! says that it was Perry’s choice to leave.

Us Weekly chimed in with its own sources, one of whom said Perry’s upcoming world tour was a point of stress in the relationship.

“Not sure how long it will last this time but yes, it is off for now,” another source told Us.

Perry has been solo during recent trips to Milan and London. (Yeah, that first is the trip to Fashion Week that saw the singer booed off the runway for being an hour late to kick off the Moschino show.)

A post from People magazine quoted a person close to Perry, 29, who said that she and Mayer, 36, were “pretty happy” as recently as two weeks ago, and that Perry had been talking as if everything was normal.

Perry’s and Mayer’s nearly two years together have been notoriously off-and-on, though in August they released a lovey-dovey duet together — that after Perry told Vogue in July, “I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. ... Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”

There was even engagement talk last autumn, with Perry catching the public’s eye by wearing a ring — turns out it wasn’t that kind of diamond — on her left hand at an event in Europe in November. Still, the engagement talk was popping as recently as last week.
