Bollywood star Katrina Kaif made a fleeting visit to the Gulf News office

Dubai: Katrina Kaif's whirlwind visit to the Gulf News office may have been brief – but at least we got to see her.
Later on Tuesday evening the Bollywood actress – who has gained herself thousands of new fans with a raunchy dance routine in her latest film, Tees Mar Khan, left fans disappointed after she cut short a planned appearance at the Grand Cineplex.
Kaif had been scheduled to sell tickets for the film, which opens next Thursday, at the Grand Cineplex box office in Dubai, but left only a few minutes after arriving due to the huge crowds that had gathered.
With hundreds of fans crowding the ground floor and escalators of the complex, Kaif and her bodyguards were unable to move forward and so turned and left.
She was apologetic, says her spokesman. "But even with the ring of bodyguards, she couldn't go into the cinema. She waved to the fans, they cheered, and then she told them she’d have to go," he said.
Kaif's co-star Akshay Kumar and director Farah Khan, who were also scheduled to come, could not make it for the trip. Tees Maar Khan is out in cinemas on December 23.
