Dubai: Her trademark “oh my gosh” followed by a gasp is all that can heard as Kim Kardashian is handed her cover story of tabloid! when she lands in Dubai.
Told it’s the biggest newspaper in the UAE and that the people of the UAE have been awaiting her arrival the Kardashian sister looks overwhelmed.
“I’m just so excited to be here,” she says having just touched down in the UAE for the first time.
Unfortunately, as the episode which aired in the US this week unfolds, that’s the only thing Kardashian’s excited about.
Her failing marriage to Kris Humphries was laid bare during the seventh episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York — Kim Takes Dubai — the first time the cracks have started to show.
The 31-year-old reality star concedes their relationship is riddled with problems in interviews to the cameras and admits to her mother she feels more herself when she is not with him.
If we believe the cameras, things have been rocky from the start between the two but in this latest show, Kardashian finally admits things aren’t working with her new husband telling her mother, Kris Jenner, “There’s something in my relationship that I just feel isn’t right. I don’t know. I’m just learning certain things about him that I didn’t know before. I don’t know, married life isn’t what I thought it would be with him.”
Fans of the show were treated to some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Kardashian’s visit to Dubai where she enjoyed a visit to the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall as well as a camel ride, shopping in some of the cities hot spots and soaking up the sun at Atlantis, The Palm.
Stereotypical images of the emirate including camels, luxury hotels, mosques and locals in national dress break up her constant unrest.
“Married life just isn’t what I thought it would be with him,” she confesses to her mother.
“I keep thinking something is off,” before asking Jenner if it was a normal feeling to experience in the early days of marriage.
From the back seat of a leather-clad 4x4 with blacked out windows Jenner responds, saying it is not normal, recalling how she and Kardashian’s father Rob were “obsessed with each other for at least the first 10 years”.
“This is not normal... that you don’t want to go home to your new husband,” she added. “I didn’t even want your dad to go to work.”
At one point Kardashian even admits she was enjoying being away from Humphries during her Dubai trip, describing it as a “huge relief”.
Kardashian filed for divorce from the New Jersey Nets star after just 72 days of marriage and was married for just two months when she jetted to Dubai to open the first international Millions of Milkshakes store at Dubai Mall.
After the show aired the reality star tweeted to her 12.4 million followers praising Dubai.
“I miss Dubai! Such good memories! Need to go back soon! Thanks @sheerazhasan for taking us!” she wrote, referring to her business partner who facilitated the trip.
The Kourtney and Kim Take New York show, which airs in over 150 countries around the world began airing in the UAE on the E! channel on January 1, which means the Dubai episode, the seventh in the season, is likely on air February 12.
