It’s been reported that John Galliano, creative director at Maison Martin Margiela, will show his first couture collection since taking over for the label in London this January.

It’s the first collection since Galliano took the helm at the French fashion house in October. The disgraced designer had been on hiatus from the industry since 2011 after losing his job as creative director at Christian Dior when he was filmed in a Paris bar making anti-semitic and racist comments.

According to the Business of Fashion, who broke the story, it was previously thought that he would make his debut at Paris fashion week.

The fact that London has been chosen may spark protest. But while his comeback has been gradual, Galliano did make an unexpectedly high-profile appearance at the British Fashion Awards last week, where he presented Anna Wintour with an award for outstanding achievement.

Renzo Rosso, president of the Only The Brave (OTB) group that owns Margiela, issued the following statement: “John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time. A unique, exceptional couturier for a Maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion. I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to here find his new home.”
