Consider Gwyneth Paltrow; the woman counts Beyoncé, Cameron Diaz and Stella McCartney among her best friends. Or Jennifer Aniston and her group of gal pals that includes Sheryl Crow, Chelsea Handler and J-Lo. Heck, even the famously prickly Julia Roberts boasts Natalie Portman (who any woman would see as a threat) as a close friend. But when it comes to Angelina Jolie, you're more likely to come across a snap of her shaking hands with Jen, than spot her hanging out with pals.

With the only woman Angelina has ever managed to develop a friendship with being her former assistant, Holly Goline - who was accused of having acted as a surrogate for the actress's twins, Knox and Vivienne - the star's apparent inability to bond with other women was in evidence recently after sources divulged that she refused to acknowledge George Clooney's girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, during a private jet flight the foursome shared.

And having revealed in the past, "I don't have a lot of friends who I talk to," insiders claim that Brad, and Ange's brother, James, are her only true friends - with her reliance on Brad to provide all of her romantic and friendship needs often putting huge pressure on the relationship.

Scene reveals what makes Ange such a man's woman and why she'll never let a woman get close to her…

Refused to speak to Stacy

Having seen George's girlfriends - including Sarah Larson and Elisabetta Canalis - come and go, Angelina has adopted an arms-length approach to Brad's best pal's women.

And insiders have revealed that on a recent private jet flight the Jolie-Pitts took with George and his latest arm candy, Stacy Keibler, flying between LA and the Palm Springs International Film Festival in Florida, that Ange "ignored" the former wrestler, refusing to acknowledge her.

"Angelina refused to acknowledge that Stacy was even on the plane," an insider told Us. "She went out of her way to ignore her, from takeoff to landing. She would not even look Stacy's way. She was not having it!"

"To Angie, Stacy is just George's latest flavour of the month," spilled an industry insider. "I think she'd like to see George stop dating these C-listers and hook-up with someone she thinks is worthy of him."

Women ‘throw themselves' at Brad

Being in a relationship with one of the world's sexiest and most lusted-after men, appears to have fuelled Angelina's inherent distrust of women, with sources claiming she's fully aware of women throwing themselves at him wherever he goes.

And things recently came to a head when Brad was filming World War Z in Glasgow and was assigned a gorgeous brunette assistant in the shape of Lara Marsden.

"Angelina definitely got paranoid," revealed a set source. "Eventually she warned the girl to ‘Stay away from Brad, or else!'" Adding, "She just doesn't trust other women around Brad, because they throw themselves at him."

‘I don't have a lot of friends'

Since her long-time assistant, Holly Goline, quit in 2009, amid rumours she had acted as a surrogate for Brad and Ange's twins, Vivienne and Knox, Angelina hasn't welcomed another female into her inner circle.

"I have a few girlfriends. I just... I stay at home a lot," Angelina has revealed. "I don't do a lot with them, and I'm very homebound." Adding, "But I don't know, I don't have a lot of friends I talk to. [Brad] really is the only person I talk to."

And despite Brad's close circle of friends - which includes Matt Damon and George Clooney - having wives and girlfriends who the actor has encouraged Angelina to meet up with, the actress has determinedly refused to make friends.

"I'll talk to my family. I talk to Brad," she insists of her daily interactions. With a movie insider spilling, "She doesn't even get close to her female co-stars. She fell out with Winona Ryder during Girl, Interrupted and every film she's made since then has been opposite a male lead."

"When women don't have [female] friends, I'm afraid of them," comments girl-friendly, Beyoncé. "I grew up around women, I believe that we can teach each other so much."

Falling out with Dad to blame?

Famously close to her actress mother, Marcheline Bertrand, and devastated when she passed away at the age of 56 in 2007, Angelina had been estranged from her Oscar-winning father, Jon Voight, on and off for many years.

And sources close to the actress have revealed that Voight's infidelities, which saw him separate from Marcheline in 1976 after five years of marriage, helped shape young Angelina's opinion of women as the enemy.

"Angelina worshipped her mother, and when she was old enough to realise that it was Jon's other women who helped destroy her marriage, it created Ange's opinion of other women as people not to be trusted," spilled a mole. With her mother's close friend, Susan Margaret, insisting, "She had a difficult time growing up with what was going on [with Jon's cheating]. She has a lot of hostility toward her dad. Knowing that makes you understand a little about some of the things Angelina has done."

Huge pressure on Brad

Recently revealing of her "meltdown" over her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood And Honey, "I had a complete emotional breakdown in the shower and Brad found me crying," Angelina's admission speaks volumes about the pressure Brad is under to be Angelina's ‘everything' when it comes to her relationships.

"Brad is her partner, best friend, father of her kids, sounding board, emotional punch bag… he's her everything," revealed a source. "Whereas other women turn to their friends to discuss different aspects of their lives, Angelina only turns to Brad. This in turn feeds her insecurity, because it enforces the idea that he is all she has."

"Brad has tried to encourage her time and time again to initiate a lunch date with Matt Damon's wife, Luciana," added an insider. "Lucy has four kids and knows the movie world - they have a lot in common, but Angelina simply won't allow a friendship to develop. It upsets and worries Brad, because his friendships are so important to him."
