Telegu actress Sri Divya first faced the camera at age three in Ruthuragalu, the first Telegu serial to be aired on Doordarshan, India’s national channel, and entered films as a child actress with Yuvaraju.

After playing the heroine in three Telegu films, the Hyderabad-bred actress made her Tamil debut with Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. She got the Siima award for her role.

Kakki Sattai, out on February 26 in the UAE, is her fourth film.

Excerpts from an exclusive interview with tabloid!:

Tell us about Kakki Sattai.

“I play Divya, a nurse. She is a simple middle-class girl. Divya is not just eye candy, but crucial to the story. This is a performance backed role.”

How was it working with Sivakarthikeyan?

“While working with Sivakarthikeyan in VVS I was concentrating on my lines and did not interact much. But on the sets of Kakki Sattai, I observed his commitment and was inspired by his dedication towards work. It motivated me to work harder on a folk song that I was struggling with for a while.”

And how about director of the film, Durai Senthil?

“I count him among my favourite directors. His films convey a powerful message and his heroines are given a strong character. In Kakki Sattai he highlights a major issue prevalent in Tamil Nadu.”

Tell us about your acting break.

“It’s a gift from God. I was three when I was spotted by director Manjula Naidu at a dance concert of my elder sister. That’s how Ruthuragalu, happened. Initially I was supposed to appear in few episodes only, but my role got an extension following the positive response of the audience. The serial went on for more than two years.”

What’s next for you?

“Tamil films Pencil, opposite G.V. Prakash, and Eetti, opposite Atharva Murali.”
