Noted fashion designer Wendell Rodricks says filmmaker Onir’s new movie Shab is close to his heart and this made him take up the job of styling its lead actor.

“The subject of the movie is the one which I have always been experiencing,” Rodricks said on Wednesday.

“Onir [asked] me whether I can dress a male star of the movie. I agreed to it,” said Rodricks, who designed the outfits for the 2003 Bipasha Basu-starrer Jism.

Rodricks said he wanted to look at himself as a stylist and not as a fashion designer for Shab.

“The look of a character is very important for any movie. I am not looking at this project for public relations, but as a project which is very close to my heart,” he said.

Set in Delhi, Shab is an edgy, dark and complex movie about four characters who are leading double lives and suddenly have their masks removed.

“Thrilled to have the Padmashree Awardee Wendell Rodricks to style my actor @Ashishbisht29 for @ShabTheFilm,” Onir posted on Twitter earlier.

With Shab, the I Am maker is returning to his pet subject of delving into the psyche and darkness of the human mind.
