Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who was on Monday present at the 16th MAMI film festival in Mumbai, says he has watched his son Vivaan’s film Happy New Year and enjoyed it. The actor claims it’s a “paisa vasool” (worth its price) film, adding that Shah Rukh Khan is the best guide for Vivaan as far as commercial films are concerned.

Shah said: “I have seen the film, it’s great, ‘paisa wasool’. I am very happy with Vivaan’s performance. Being a newcomer, he has been given a lot of attention. For commercial films, no one better than Shah Rukh can be the right guide for him.”

Directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year features Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivaan among others.

Talking about his film Junoon at the film festival, the versatile actor said it is not just inspiring but also a memorable movie. “Junoon is not just an inspirational film, it’s also memorable. I also feel festivals are the right platform for films which don’t have big budgets. I feel proud that I was associated with this film.”

Released in 1978, Junoon was directed by Shyam Benegal and the film featured Shashi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Nafisa Ali among others.
