Ali Merchant, who made headlines in the fourth season of reality show Bigg Boss by marrying fellow contestant Sara Khan, will return to the small screen with Yeh Hai Aashiqui — Disaster Series after a year-long sabbatical.
The actor, who later parted ways with Khan, says it feels great to be back on television.
“It feels great to be back on the small screen; it’s like rejuvenation for me. I have been following Yeh Hai Aashiqui ... and always love the way the show portrays such beautiful love stories,” the actor said in a statement.
Ali, who debuted with the popular television series Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, has appeared in many hit shows over the years such as Amber Dhara, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat and Do Hanson Ka Jodaa.
Talking about his role in his comeback show, he said: “I am portraying the role of a Punjabi boy, Rudra, who comes to Mumbai in search of something good, only to find himself stuck in horrific floods. And amid all of this, he falls in love.”
In the upcoming episode, Merchant will be seen romancing actress Ruchi Savarn, who he meets in the most unusual of circumstances. It will air on Sunday on the Bindaas channel.
