The effects of Hurricane Sandy are being felt in the UAE with the cancellation of a concert in Dubai on Thursday by US rapper Bow Wow and the postponement of a concert in Abu Dhabi by Missy Elliot.

Bow Wow was due to perform in Dubai Caribbean Carnival in Burj Park on Thursday.

“Bow Wow will not be able to perform on stage at the concert set to happen today, November 1, 2012. Due to the threat of hurricane Sandy, flights from New York have been cancelled indefinitely and Bow Wow who was scheduled to arrive for his concert... will be unable to perform.” said events organisers 321 Events.

Missy Elliot was due to perform a free concert on Abu Dhabi corniche on Thursday night, followed by a ticketed show at du Forum the same night. She will now perform the free concert on Friday but will arrive in time for the du Forum show.

“Flash is pleased to confirm that Missy Elliot will be arriving into Abu Dhabi very late this evening [Thursday November 1], travelling directly to the du Forum to perform as scheduled at SKYBAR Abu Dhabi...unfortunately, the delay to Missy Elliott’s scheduled arrival time means her Beats on the Beach performance this evening has been rescheduled. She will now perform on Al Sahil Beach tomorrow night [Friday November 2],” said event organiser Flash Entertainment in a statement.

The two other international acts on the Duabi line-up, Jason Derulo and Sean Kingston, have already arrived in Dubai. tabloid! interviewed Derulo on Wednesday where he spoke of his excitement to perform and promised a “high energy” show. They will be supported at the concert by S1, a Dubai-based teen rapper.
