Hrithik Roshan, one of the reigning stars of the Hindi film industry, will be out of the hospital in the next 48 hours, his father has said.

The star underwent a brain surgery to remove a clot at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday.

The actor was wheeled out of the operation theatre around 3pm with his parents and wife Sussanne present throughout the 50-minute neuro-surgery to correct a condition called chronic subdural hematoma.

“Hrithik is out of danger and on way to complete recovery,” said his father Rakesh Roshan, a film director.

A dad to two of his sons, Hrithik had posted about his surgery on his Facebook page.

The 39-year-old, who made his debut with super hit love story Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in 2000, has worked in about 30 films in the past 13 years, including in hits such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish, Dhoom:2, Jodhaa Akbar, Agneepath and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

He is currently gearing up for the release of the superhero film Krrish 3, the third in a series, directed and produced by his father under their banner FilmKraft.

The film is scheduled for release during the Indian festival of Diwali in November.

“[We] join millions of superstar Hrithik Roshan’s fans and well-wishers across the world in wishing him a speedy recovery. Hrithik’s health and well-being is the top priority at this moment. As a consequence, the shoot of the upcoming third schedule of Siddharth Anand’s ‘Bang Bang’ has been moved forward. We shall update the dates of the new schedule at an opportune time,” said a statement from Fox Star Studios.
