On Thursday night, art will meet music once again at Tiger Translate. The international event, which was first launched in 2005, will take place at Zero Gravity in Dubai between 8pm and 3am.

This year, a seven-hour line-up of DJs will take to the stage, headlined by global talents Krafty Kuts and A. Skillz.

Across three creative spaces titled Art Cages, six artists will work in pairs to create live art for all to see. The first will feature a UV-lit creation, the second will feature graffiti-style art and the third will involve black and white pen illustrations.

During a segment titled Art of War, two short-listed artists from a Facebook competition will battle on stage for 90 minutes, each of them unleashing their skills onto a large canvas. The artist with the highest votes will win Dh10,000.

“We are passionate about supporting the local community and getting involved at a grass roots level, we want to introduce the wider population to a side of their city they may not regularly see,” said a spokesperson. “It is about uncageing the opportunities Dubai has to offer all its residents.”

There will be several opportunities for attendees to create their own art, whether by customising a trucker hat or contributing a sketch drawing to a 6m long tiger that will be displayed at future Tiger Translate events.

The event is free for all, but limited to those who are 21-plus. For more information, visit out Tiger Translate on Facebook.
