The first trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 was unloaded at Comic-Con.

Footage from the video game adaption starring Homeland co-star Rupert Friend as a genetically engineered assassin debuted on Friday at the pop-culture convention.

Friend wasn’t present to show off the trailer because he’s shooting the next season of Homeland in South Africa, but his Agent 47 co-stars Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto were on hand for the San Diego unveiling.

Quinto, the Star Trek and American Horror Story actor, is playing a mysterious character in the movie, which is set for release next year.

“We saw bits and pieces in Berlin and Singapore when we were shooting it, but to actually see it put together like that is epic,” Quinto said of the trailer’s debut.

The fast-paced preview began with the follicly challenged Agent 47 creatively escaping from handcuffs in an interrogation room. Other scenes included a slick car chase sequence involving scads of rope darts, and a glimpse at a scantily clad Ware dipping into a rooftop pool.

Quinto was mum about details on his character named John Smith, who he noted is more complicated in the film than he was in the third-person game series.

“The character is more complicated than the name,” teased Quinto.

Timothy Olyphant first portrayed the bar-coded Agent 47 in a 2007 film adaptation of the popular game.
