The Arab version of Project Runway is coming. The award-winning American fashion reality programme will be turned into a pan-Arab show, giving aspiring designers the chance of a lifetime. The eventual winner will have his or her collection shown at a major catwalk show and featured in a fashion magazine.

The MBC Group, which announced it had bought the format, have not said who will host or form the panel or when the show will begin airing. In the American version, Heidi Klum leads a panel of judges including fashion consultant Tim Gunn, fashion critic Nina Garcia and designer Michael Kors, who was replaced by designer Zac Posen last year after 10 seasons. The show has produced a number of well-known designers including Christian Siriano and Gretchen Jones.

The Dubai-headquartered broadcaster also announced it has acquired the rights to Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, which is now available in multiple countries in various languages.

MBC Group already has in its roster the hit Arab Idol and Arab’s Got Talent shows, which it has renewed for three more seasons.
