Mamma mia! It’s back!
Eight years after a week-long run in the city, the hit musical based on some of Abba’s greatest hits, is returning next year from January 2 to 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The brainchild of producer Judy Craymer, Mamma Mia! combines a story of love, family and friendship, all set to the tune of classic Abba hits. The musical has been seen by 54 million people ever since it debuted at London’s West End 15 years ago. It was also one of the longest-running Broadway shows and was made into a hit movie starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan in 2008. Various versions of the show exists in 14 different languages.
With music and lyrics by Abba frontmen Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. The musical is choreographed by Anthony Van Laast, production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision and arrangements by Martin Koch.
