Kylie Minogue is to headline Hyde Park in London on 21 June, as part of the British Summer Time festival.

The Australian pop icon will enlist the funk force of special guests Grace Jones and Chic, who will open for her at the show.

Following her lavish Kiss Me Once European tour last year, the singer will this summer take her stage show to the annual outdoor event. “I’m so excited to perform at Hyde Park this Summer,” Kylie said. “I have great memories of playing shows there and am looking forward to doing it all again! Given the amazing artists performing and that it will be the longest day of the year, I can’t wait!”

Her endeavours this year include an anticipated collaboration with disco legend Giorgio Moroder for Right Here, Right Now. She was named Australian of the Year in the UK at the annual Australia Day Gala Dinner on Monday. Collecting her medal at Australia House, she posted on Instagram: “WOW...thank you for the honour I am so grateful!!”

She recently handed over judging duties on the Australian version of The Voice to Jessie J, who she replaced for one season on the UK version of the show. That was part of an easing back on television work to give her more time to focus on her music and preparation for a world tour.

The event has already announced two of its other headliners: Taylor Swift will be joined by Ellie Goulding and John Newman on June 27, while The Who, Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Johnny Marr perform on June 26.
