British actor Idris Elba tweeted this selfie on March 2 to announce he's filming a new mini series of his hit BBC drama "Luther".

British actor Idris Elba is back at work as troubled but genius detective John Luther.

The actor on Monday tweeted he’s on set in East London filming for the hit BBC drama. After three seasons, the show is due to return with a two-part mini-series to screen later this year.

“First day back to set of John Luther....stand by East London,” tweeted Elba, with a smiley face emoticon and a thumbs up. It came with a selfie of him doing a thumbs up.

The mini-series, with episodes of an hour each, is written by creator Neil Cross.

“Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there’s hardly been a minute when I didn’t wonder what happened next,” said Cross in a statement announcing the new shows. “So I decided to find out. We’re putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”

A US adaptation of the show is in the works, although it’s unknown if Elba will play the lead.
