Has French Montana been unfaithful to Khloe Kardashian? That’s the latest rumour to be churned out by the overactive Kardashian mill — which means it’s best taken with a grain of salt.

Chatting to tabloid! over email this week, Montana shared the most important thing he looks for in a partner: “Loyalty. Absolutely.”

Montana was in the UAE last week for a November 22 club performance at the VIP Room Dubai pop-up on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The next day, he enjoyed a night out with Khloe’s older sister, Kim, and others at the same venue. On November 24, he joined Kim in Dubai for dinner at Japanese restaurant Toko, after her Fleur Fatale perfume launch in Dubai.

“I think [loyalty] is what makes a relationship strong. I need a woman who can have my back in every situation. Good or bad,” he said.

In 2009, Montana became a father to his only son, Kruz, from then-marriage to Deen Kharbouch. In 2013, he was romantically tied to rapper Trina. This year, he made several headlines for his on-off relationship with Khloe.

Focus on music

Asked about the things that irk him in the world of entertainment, Montana responded with the verbal equivalent of a shrug. “I don’t really waste my time on being angry about what is said about me. I mean, that’s the music industry. If you want to be part of it, you have to deal with it. I try to concentrate on my music — that’s it,” he said.

Currently in the pipeline is his sophomore album, Mac & Cheese 4, which will be a follow-up to his 2013 debut, Excuse My French. The record will include collaborations with Miguel, Kanye West, Fabulous and Iggy Azalea. DJ Mustard has produced several of the tracks, including lead single Don’t Panic.

Mac & Cheese 4 will be a statement. Nothing else. I worked a lot on this album — almost more than one year. I wanted to create something different than Excuse My French. That was a major thing. I did a lot of mixtapes before, but to stay fresh in this industry, you always have to step your game up,” he said.

Montana, born Karim Kharbouch, added that he’s still in contact with relatives from his home country, Morocco, and that they help keep him grounded.

“As a Moroccan citizen, it is very important to have your family and traditions still there. Family always supports you — that’s the most important part of being a person of public interest. You have to stick with your roots,” he said.

Inspiration

Has the rich art history of Morocco inspired him? “Of course! The beats, the lyrics, everything is inspired by traditional songs of Morocco. I’m very proud to be a citizen of such a country full of art, inspiration and tradition.”

The 30-year-old said that his recent travels from region to region have stuck with him during his creative process.

“I learned a lot these past two years. I’ve been to nearly every place in the world. Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and I take all of those experiences with me into the studio,” he said. “This is what I want to tell people — stories about my life. What I have been through, positive or negative.”
