Justin Bieber says he was shocked to know his mother’s life experiences through her memoir “Nowhere But Up”.

The book reads that his mother Pattie Mallette, 37, was sexually abused, took drugs and attempted suicide before becoming pregnant with Bieber, and splitting from his father Jeremy Bieber at the age of 18.

While it was difficult reading the memoir, Bieber, 18, is supportive of his mum’s decision to pen down her experiences, reports contactmusic.com.

He told website macleans.ca: “Yeah, it was a lot for me to hear. But I’m older now. When I was younger, my mum never told me any of this stuff. It was definitely hard reading those stories, but I’m supportive of her writing the book. It’s cool.”
