"Gunday", set in the 1970s Kolkata, chronicles the lives of two young men — Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor — who live on the wrong side of the tracks

With Valentine’s Day round the corner, Bollywood is ready to surprise its fans in Dubai with a yet another fun movie. Watch out for Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, who will make you laugh with their antics, as they premiere their action drama Gunday in Dubai on February 12 at Meydan IMAX. Actress Priyanka Chopra, who plays a cabaret dancer in the film, will also be in the attendance.

Gunday, set in the 1970s Kolkata, chronicles the lives of two young men who live on the wrong side of the tracks. Their rise to power as they indulge in illegal coal mining and their tryst with Chopra is the steam behind the film, which has been produced by Yash Raj Films.

The actors had unveiled the trailers of the film at the Dubai International Film Festival in December.

“Unlike last time, there will be fewer hugs and more kisses. Guys, gear up for Ranveer,” Kapoor had said mockingly alluding to the frenzied fan reactions during the festival. The fans forgot to ask questions about the film and demanded embraces instead during the 60-minute conversation with the stars that was held on the sidelines of Diff.

“Dubai is one of the loveliest cities we have been to. We saw the love and affection and it was mind blowing,” Singh had said during his last visit to the city.

Kapoor was also all praises for the UAE when he said: “The UAE is one of the biggest emerging markets for Indian cinema and it makes perfect sense to premiere Gunday here. So bring on the red carpet fun.”

Gunday is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
