Legend returns

It's now confirmed that Nora Aunor is scheduled to return to Manila to resume her acting and singing career. Aunor, who has been in the US for over five years, was sorely missed by her fans and critics alike. The living legend will be back to do what she does best: perform. Her first project will be a concert in May titled Finally I'm Home, and if plans push through she will be the major star in the seventh sequel of the highly successful movie franchise Mano Po.

Supermodel Almarvez

Filipina model Charlene Lousie Almarvez was named first runner-up in the recently concluded Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest held in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Latvia's Katrina Caune emerged as the winner this year.

With her second place finish, Almarvez replicates the feat of Melanie Marquez, the former Miss International who won first runner-up title in 1986. Almarvez had to endure four days of gruelling photo shoots, training workshops and press interviews, and was an early favourite despite being on the professional modelling scene for only eight months. She won a $150,000 (Dh550,876) modelling contract with Ford Models in New York.
