If Vidya Balan’s blockbuster “The Dirty Picture” explored the tumultuous life of a troubled actress, the English play “Where Did I Leave My Purdah” explores a similar territory by taking a look into the life and drama of a 1950s theatre star. The play will be staged at the First Group Theatre at Madinat Jumeirah, on Friday at 6pm and 8.30pm.

Written by well known playwright Mahesh Dattani, the play starring veteran Bollywood and theatre actor Lillete Dubey, her daughter Neha and Soni Razdan, is set against the backdrop on the sub continent partition era and delves into the famed theatres that staged dance dramas through the 1950s to the ’80s. Dubey, who directs the play, takes on the role of Nazia, whose identity is defined by her love for her craft and her fractured personal relationships. Tickets Dh100, Dh200, Dh300 and Dh400.
