Let's start with the name ...
Well, I know the name Rink is an unusual name. But the story behind it is simple. My name is Nehal but I was called Rinky by my friends and family. After a point of time, Rinky stuck and Nehal got overshadowed. So when I decided to go into RJing, I decided to go with Rink since it sounded cooler.
How does it feel to be a female Disc Jockey?
It's tougher. At every gig, you need to try and prove that you know your music. Having said that, I don't hold any grudges and I take it as a challenge. There have been times when clubbers have come up to me in awe and complimented me on my skills. The fact that I am a woman adds to the charisma.
The qualities you love about yourself:
I am fun and hardworking. To me, that's a lethal combination.
Who are your role models?
DJ Suketu. He is a thorough professional.
This is your first time in Dubai. What are your first impressions?
I love Shaikh Zayed Road. The line of towering skyscrapers is mind-boggling.
What's next ...
I have not ruled out the possibility of making music videos. But for the time being I am happy mixing Bollywood hits.
About the DJ: Apart from her striking looks, DJ Rink has been in the industry for four years and has started touring internationally. After her gigs at clubs in Mauritius and Thailand, Kandy Club at Crowne Plaza, Dubai, was her next stop.
